How do I know what and what not is malware?

Okay, So I downloaded and use advanced care system for my anti-virus. After I hit the repair button a screen comes up that says “security analyzer log file ananysis”. Then a window that say’s “security analyzer with boxes you have the option to check. At the bottom it says all problems are not malware. malware. They are critical settings of your system and common targets of malware. Before you remove any item, make sure it is malware. So how do I know? Is my computer running slow because I have never gotten rid of malware? It’s a 4 month old HP windows vista laptop and is running terrible. I use a lot of facebook applications like farmville and cafe world and bejeweled. Can someone help? my email address is deannewebster007@yahoo.com. 4 months and running slow already?
Well you must have been downloading something, from torrents to random files on P2P or forums. Something you wont be admitting since you’re new to computers.

The malware will consist of a location of the file. And if that file in unfamiliar with you, just delete it. However if its from a software you trust, then you don’t.

In the end, I highly recommend uninstalling that software and use a popular anti-virus program, you’re current software u are currently using is not for newbies. I recommend AntiVir, a free anti-virus software that easy to use.
